anterior cruciate ligament：前十字韌帶，縮寫成ACL。cruci-表「十字」之意。anterior 一字的 ante-表「前」之意。順便提一下與 anterior 相同字尾的單字：posterior：「後面的」；interior；「裡面的」；exterior：「外面的」；ulterior：另有用意的，別有用心的。
