No longer the victim

Maggie Grace is happy to be doing the rescuing this time

The original "Taken" may have helped to change the direction of Liam Neeson's already stellar career. However, for actress Maggie Grace, who played the young girl kidnapped in the first "Taken" movie, the film helped take her career to a whole new level.

Before "Taken" was released, Grace had already gotten a lot of attention for her role in the popular TV series "Lost." But her performance in Taken helped her land parts in some of Hollywood's biggest franchises, including a role in the ultra-popular movies "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Parts 1 and 2."

Being part of "Lost" and the "Twilight" franchise means Grace is noticed by members of the public wherever she goes. But the 29-year-old American actress is still most recognized for her role in "Taken." "I will always have someone come up to me, who thinks they are saying this to me for the first time ever, and tell me 'Don't get into a taxi with a stranger,'" Grace explained.

Happily, Grace's character doesn't get grabbed again in "Taken 2." Grace laughed at that idea, saying that it would be kind of ridiculous for her character to get kidnapped for a second time. In fact, this time she may even end up helping to save someone else who's been taken.

"My character doesn't suddenly become an action star. That would be unreasonable. She's still a young woman. But she is drawn into taking a more active role because her parents are abducted and she has to help free them," Grace explained.

Despite the fact that people regularly give her advice on how not to get kidnapped, Grace is thankful for being given the opportunity to appear in action-packed films, even if she often plays the victim.

For example, she recently returned to playing a kidnap victim in the sci-fi action thriller "Lockout." Despite this fact, "Lockout" gave Grace the opportunity to do a lot more stunt training, especially the wire work needed to make it look like she was suspended in space.

Grace was so excited about the physical parts of the role that she did extra training. "Taken 2" then gave the actress a chance to put those skills to good use. "The stunts in 'Taken 2' are incredible, and the action sequences and the car chases. I had never shot a car chase that way before. It feels like you're in the car," Grace explained.
