Taiwan gets ready for a show honoring legendary pop star Michael Jackson

During a career that lasted for more than 40 years until his untimely death in 2009, Michael Jackson became one of the most iconic figures in the history of music. Recognized as the most successful entertainer of all time by Guinness World Records and commonly known as the "King of Pop," Jackson inspired people across the planet with his astonishing songwriting, singing and dancing skills.

Today, Jackson's music and unique performance style live on thanks to world-famous touring circus company Cirque du Soleil. In 2011, Cirque du Soleil debuted its Jackson-inspired show, titled "Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour." This remarkable production, which has packed in audiences around the world, combines Jackson's music and dancing with Cirque du Soleil's breathtaking acrobatics to create a unique rock concert experience. The show features a variety of different dance and aerial acrobatic performances, all set to Jackson's most famous and beloved songs.

From June 28 to 30, "Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour" will be staged in Taipei. Tickets have already gone on sale and are expected to sell out quickly. Amid growing anticipation for the show, many Jackson fans showed up for a pre-show carnival on March 31, where various local celebrities performed their own interpretations of the King of Pop's songs.

At the event, Anthony Neely performed MJ classics such as "Smooth Criminal," "Earth Song" and "Will You Be There," while adding his own flavor to the songs. The singer also explained his love for Jackson and how much he has been inspired by the American entertainer.

"He (Michael Jackson) wore white socks and rolled them up so we could all see how awesome his dancing skills were. Every part of each show was very well thought out. All the sacrifices he made were for his audience, whether it was to entertain them, educate them, or inspire them. The amount of his life that he gave to his fans was just very admirable," Neely said.

"It inspires me continuously to really work hard to put all I can into my music, because it means a lot. It means a lot to everybody who listens to our music," he added.
