由take組成的實用片語
在英文中，"take"是個很廣泛使用的動詞，常和介係詞搭配，形成動詞片語，如"take after"、"take someone/ something for granted"和"take one's time"等，今天要向大家介紹其他幾個在口語中也很常見的動詞片語。
1. take sth in
這個片語有好幾個不同的意思，其中一個意思是「理解」。Ex: This unit is very difficult, and I hardly took in what the teacher said in class. 這個單元很難，我幾乎聽不懂老師在課堂上講的。
另一個也很常見的意思是「參觀、參加」，Ex: My girlfriend and I are taking in a show this weekend. 我跟我女友這周末要去看一個展覽。
2. take on sb
這個片語也有數個不同的意思，其中一個意思是「雇用」。Ex: This factory is planning to take on 100 more workers this season. 這家工廠本季打算再招聘一百名員工。
另一個意思是「答應去做、承接」，Ex: I will take on the assignment for you. 我會為你完成這項工作。
還有一個意思是「呈現」，Ex: Her voice took on a cheerful note. 她的聲音表現出愉快的口吻。
3. take up
這個片語一樣好幾個不同的意思，最常見的定義不外乎「開始學習或從事某項活動」Ex: I'm planning to take up French this year. 我打算今年開始學法文。
另一個意思是「接受(邀請、挑戰)」，Ex: I am happy to take up this invitation.我很開心受邀。也可以說：I am happy to take you up on your invitation.
此外，這個片語也能用來指「佔據(時間或空間)」，Ex: Attending this club has taken most of my free time. 參加這個社團佔據了我部分的空暇時間。或是，We cannot buy this desk because it will take up too much space in our house. 我們不能買這張桌子，因為會太佔空間。
4. take off
這個片語除了可以用來形容飛機起飛，也可以用來形容人「出發、前往某地」Ex: The Browns took off for Japan this morning. 布朗一家今早飛去日本了。
另外也可以指「人在短時間內事業飛黃騰達」，Ex: He taught for years before his writing career took off. 這位作家在成名前，教了好幾年的書。
