"cloud" 這個關鍵字最近不斷地在大大小小的媒體中出現。現在，請回想你腦海裡的英文字句庫，如果只有 It's very cloudy today.、The sky is covered with dark clouds. 國中生句子，或是老派到不行的 Every cloud has a silver lining.（天無絕人之路。）……那麼，你一定要補齊下面這五個「cloud 家族」相關用字，利用「雲」這個意象學到更多新字和表達！

第五名：on a cloud/ on cloud nine 很開心
My daughter has been very happy since I promised her an iPod touch.
à My daughter has been on a cloud since I promised her an iPad 2.

這裡用 very happy 並不是不對，但是如果你還想要更進一步傳達「輕飄飄的、像騰雲駕霧般地開心」，on a cloud/on cloud nine 就是個很漂亮的表達。

第四名：under a cloud 失寵、被懷疑
It was the second time the mayor makes the government unreliable.
à It was the second time the mayor has left government under a cloud.

當我們一想到「不可靠、被懷疑」，就會直接反應出 unreliable 或 suspected 這一類的字。但是，如果你要說的是那種「會被懷疑、烏雲罩頂」好一陣子的狀態，最精準的用法就是 under a cloud。

第三名：cloudy（情況）不樂觀、不明朗
The future of world trade is bad.
à The future of world trade looks very cloudy.

當我們談論、評估未來時，要盡量避免用斬釘截鐵的字。像 bad/good 就是一種很極端的形容詞，會讓自己的說辭毫無退路。cloudy 這個字用在這裡恰恰好，不會把話說死，但也可以清楚表達未來的「黯淡、不明朗」。
