Systematic crisis還是Systemic crisis?
這些形容詞錯誤都是我們學過一個字，在看到生字時自行產生的判斷。只要確實理解意思，就不容易再錯。
1. Systemic 全身系統的，用來和「局部」做區別
例如systemic infection是全身感染，local infection是局部感染
Systemic financial crisis指會擴散到整個金融圈(系統)的危機
你以為是: Systematic 有系統的，表示用一致的方式、有組織的做事，所以
Systematic error是系統性錯誤，不是全身性錯誤
2. Alternate 是交替的，輪流的
Jeff and Eric do the work on alternate days.
你以為是: Alternative二選一的，或是替代做法
Two alternative systems are useful to avoid this stalemate.
3. Continual 頻繁的，重複或持續發生的。但是持續發生是可以間斷的。
Please stop your continual questions. 請不要接二連三的問問題。
你以為是: continuous 時間或空間上不間斷的
continuous arguing always winds me up. 無休止的爭論讓我抓狂。這裡指的就是真的沒有中場休息的爭吵。
4. Infamous 惡名昭彰的
你以為是: famous 著名的
記的方式很容易，in- 這個字首在名詞或形容詞前，是無、相反、沒有，所以infamous就是famous的相反了。
5. Historical 和歷史相關的；過往的
例如，historical records歷史紀錄；historical gold prices過去的金價
你以為是: historic 有歷史意義的；有歷史重要性的
古蹟當然有歷史意義，所以是Historic sites。
有時意思不同的兩個字，也都用得上。
A historic event是有歷史重要性的事件，而a historical event是過去的事件。
最不容易忘記的方式是記「組合字」，幫你感受這個形容詞。記住systemic infection，自然也就知道crisis要用systemic形容了。
