「對手」指的是在某方面相互競爭的對方，英文說法除了最常用的opponent之外，也可以說rival、adversary或是competitor。另外，opponent也可以指與自己意見不同的「反對者」，而若要表達「支持者」，英文說法則為proponent。
例句：
The boxer knocked out his opponent in the fourth round.
那位拳擊手在第四回合擊倒了對手。
The team will face its toughest opponent in the next game.
