計程車收費多半根據跳表（taximeter，較常使用簡稱meter）收費，taxi這個字事實上就是由taximeter衍生出來的。各縣市的計程車收費標準不一，搭乘時最好選擇有跳表收費的計程車，否則容易被胡亂開價，當冤大頭。與跳表相關的英文有 turn on the meter（開始跳表計費）、use the meter（使用跳表計費）。

Make sure you tell the driver to turn on the meter when you get in the taxi.
