nutrition為「營養」之意，nutritional supplement就是指「營養補給品」，如綜合維他命或雞精這類的東西，簡稱supplement。補充品通常做成藥片（pill或tablet）、膠囊（capsule）或是液體的形式。常見的營養補充品有vitamin「維他命」、mineral「礦物質」、fiber「纖維素」等；也有健身專用的補給品（bodybuilding supplement），如protein「蛋白質」或creatine「肌酸」；或是草本補給品（herbal supplement）。
