傳統上習慣用 spokesman「發言人、代言人」指稱男性與女性代言人，不過現在由於性別平權的意識高漲，會更傾向用 spokeswoman 稱呼女性代言人，spokesman 稱呼男性代言人，也可使用中性客觀的 spokesperson（男女皆可用）。
