「美國隊長」還是「隊長美國」?

Marvel 漫畫系列的電影總能刮起一陣旋風。學生看到了這部片名，問我們：《美國隊長》為什麼不是American Captain，而是Captain America？

太執著於中文的詞序，說成American Captain「美國的隊長」，這個頭銜就淡掉了，讓這部片的主角突然變得很平庸。

中、英文說「頭銜」，詞序是相反的。像張先生，英文說Mr. Chang，中文習慣把頭銜放在後面，英文則習慣把頭銜先亮出來。Captain America，是兩個名詞的並置：這個人是隊長，而且還代表了美國精神。

這一類的用法還有很多例子：

1. Miss America 美國小姐／Mister Donut 甜甜圈先生
如果你還記得珊卓布拉克主演的《麻辣女王》，這部片的英文名子就是 Miss Congeniality。
Teresa Scanlan has become the youngest Miss America to win the contest at age 17.
Teresa Scanlan 在十七歲贏得了美國小姐的頭銜，是史上最年輕的美國小姐。

2. Professor X X 博士
X-Men: First Class is an American superhero film directed by Matthew Vaughn, focusing on the friendship between Professor X and Magneto when they were young.
《X戰警：第一戰》由 Matthew Vaughn 執導，是美國超能力英雄故事。這部電影著重在 X 教授和萬磁王年輕時的情誼。

3. King George 喬治國王／Queen Elizabeth 伊莉莎白女王
The King's Speech tells the story of the relationship between King George VI and Lionel Logue, who saved the British Monarchy by curing the King’s stutter.
《王者之聲》說的是喬治六世和Lionel Logue的故事。Lionel Logue治好了喬治六世的口吃，可說是拯救了英國王室。

4. General MacArthur 麥克阿瑟將軍
General MacArthur became a spiritual icon after leading the successful Inchon landing.
麥克阿瑟在仁川登陸後成了國家的精神象徵。

5. Duke Nukem 毀滅公爵
Duke Nukem was initially created as the protagonist for the video game. His role is to fight back an alien invasion on Earth.
毀滅公爵是創造出來的電玩角色，他擊退外來者入侵，捍衛地球。
