You should not give anyone the clap. Go and see your doctor."
(X) Please give this gentleman a big clap.
(O) Please give this gentleman a big hand.
That was a wonderful speech. Everyone stood up and gave the speaker a big hand.(那是場很棒的演說,每個人都站起來為演講人鼓掌。)
(X) Thank you for your speech.
(O) Thank you for your comment.
Thank you for your comment. We’ll give careful consideration to this question.(謝謝您的發言,我們會審慎考慮這個問題。)
(X) Excuse me. I can’t listen to your question.
(O) Excuse me. I can’t hear your question.
I can’t listen to your question是「我無法傾聽你說的問題」,也就是在表示「這是什麼問題,我聽不下去了」。
例:Excuse me. I can’t hear your question. Could you speak up a little?(抱歉,我聽不清楚您的問題,可以再大聲一點嗎?)
