Taiwan has won the first IBAF Under-12 Baseball World Championship in Taipei on Sunday by edging Cuba 3-2 in the championship game.
Taiwan had a timely hit from the bat of Yeh Chao-you 葉晁佑 in the second inning to take the lead 1-0 but Cuba pulled level with a solo home run soon after. However, it was third inning that was to prove key, when Taiwan took advantage of some loose Cuban pitching. Batting at number six, Wan Chao-ching’s 萬昭清 hit that ran all the way to the right field fence brought in two runs. Although Cuba scored one run in the final inning it was enough to stop Taiwan winning in front of their home town fans.

中華隊在二局先靠著葉晁佑的適時安打先馳得點，不過古巴馬上在半局後還以顏色，用陽春全壘打追平比數，不過關鍵的笫三局，台灣小將抓住古巴投手不穩的機會，靠著第六棒的萬昭清，擊出右外野方向一路滾到全壘打牆邊的三壘安打帶有兩分打點，就靠著這兩分奠定勝基，最終比數3比2，台灣小將成功的把冠軍留在家中。
