Overcast skies cast gray start to 2012
The China Post news staff--To the disappointment of those eager to witness year 2012's first break of dawn, thick clouds and moisture blocked all possible views of the sunrise yesterday morning, said the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) and administration offices of national scenic areas across Taiwan, yesterday.
Despite the CWB's forecast that limited rainfall and thick clouds might be disadvantageous for watching the sunrise, many people still flooded to Taitung's Sansiantai (三仙台), Taipei's Fulong (福隆), Taichung's Lishan (梨山), and Chiayi's Alishan (阿里山), hoping otherwise.
According to the weather forecast issued by the CWB, the first break of dawn should appear at 6:27 a.m., and the bureau had prepared to live-broadcast the moment online from the weather station setup on Yushan, Taiwan's tallest mountain.
