計劃做什麼事、應該做什麼事、註定要做什麼事。不一定要用"will"或"be going to"，你聽到老外說"you are to..."、"I am to...."不要以為他用錯了！be to在句子裡，常用來表安排、命令、目的、用途、可能性、命中注定。必要時，"be to"中間還可加still、never、nowhere等副詞。
　

表示『將』、『計劃』、『安排』。(意思接近be going to)
Who is to question him?
These cars are to rent. (這些車要出租，"to be rent"可以直接用"rent"主動表示)


表示『義務』、『應該』 。(意思接近should, must)
You are to be back by 10 o'clock.
What is to be done next? (下一步該怎麼做?)　


表示可能性 。
She was nowhere to be found. 　
Such books are to be found in the library.


表示『命運』、『注定』　
The worst is still to come. 
They said goodbye, little knowing they were never to meet again.
