改編自印度小說家Saroo Brierley回憶錄《A Long Way Home》的電影《漫漫回家路》（Lion），訴說5歲的Saroo歷經25年歲月，跨過不同的國家、海洋，最後終於回到家鄉印度與親生母親重逢。
電影不僅呈現出小男孩面對未知城市和危險處境的恐懼，更展現男孩迫切想找到生母的渴望，入圍今年奧斯卡最佳影片、最佳男女配角等6項大獎提名，以及入圍金球獎最佳男、女配角的肯定。

1. go through 經歷
作者在回憶錄裡，這樣描述他曲折的人生故事：
I went through a whirlwind, being on that train, nearly being kidnapped and drowning and being locked up in a juvenile prison, and then coming to Australia and seeing the tranquility.（我在火車上經歷了如狂風般的混亂困惑，後來經歷了幾乎被綁架，溺水，被關在少年監獄，最後來到澳洲，面對平靜。）
go through這裡可解釋為「經歷」，也可做「仔細看過／檢查」。
The family went through political persecution and hardships and finally arrived in the U.S.（那個家庭經歷政治迫害和艱困得生活，終於抵達美國。）
It took me the whole night to go through a 300-page report.（我花了整個晚上看一個300頁的報告。）
2. Determination and Will Power 決心與意志力
Saroo在電視訪談中提到，尋找親人的過程有如海底撈針，沒有決心和毅力是做不到的：
Everything we have in the world is at the tap of a button, but you gotta have the will and the determination to [get] it.（要做世上任何事就像按個按鈕般，但是你需要的是意志力和決心（才能做到／得到）。）
determination是名詞的決心，動詞為determine，常見的用法是be determined to V.（下定決心做___）。
Lisa is determined to become an entrepreneur before 35.（Lisa下定決心在35歲以前成為一個企業家。）
俗話說「有志者事竟成」英文即是「Where there’s a will, there’s a way.」will是名詞指「意志」，而意志力也可用will power來表現。
3. Take vs. Spend 耗費多年光陰
從Saroo和朋友的談話中，我們能感受到尋親之路有多麼艱難：
朋友: How long were you on the train?（你在火車上多久？）
Saroo: A couple of days.（兩天。）
朋友: A couple of days? …….It would take a lifetime to search all the stations in India.（兩天？……搜尋印度所有的車站可能要花上一輩子的時間。）
take常用在時間花費，基本上主詞要有虛主詞「it」。另一個也可當「花費」用的是spend，但要特別注意，spend要用「人」做主詞，並且spend之後常加名詞或動名詞，如：
I spent three hours doing my homework last night.（昨晚我花了3個小時做我的作業。）
It took me three hours to complete the project.（完成這項專案花了我3個小時。）
有時要表達花費很多時間也可用個比較誇張的說法：My internet connection is so slow and it takes forever to download a file.
take也可用在表達「需要____」，我們常說的「一個巴掌拍不響」英文上就可用It takes two to tango，字面上解釋就是「需要兩個人才能跳探戈」。
4. Adoptive 收養之愛
此外，故事中令人感動的是Saroo的養母（adoptive mother）並不是因無法生育而領養小孩，而是想給這孩子一個家庭和愛。
讀者是否注意到養父母的英文為adoptive father/mother？而什麼時候才用adopted呢？
一個簡單的區分法就是被領養的用adopted，「-ed」的字尾在英文上有被動的意思。因此，養母、養父用 adoptive mother、adoptive father，養子則可以用adopted son。
值得注意的是，跟adopt拼字上非常類似的字還有adapt和adept，很容易造成混淆，雖然只差一個字母，但意思可大不同喔！
adopt (v)除了上述的「領養」外，也有「採用」的意思。
The committee finally agreed to adopt his proposal.（委員會終於同意採用他的建議。）
adapt (v)是「適應，調整」，常用adapt to來表達。
Some companies are quick to adapt to new changes.（有些公司能很快地適應新的改變。）
adept (adj)則是「熟練，擅長」，通常用 be adept at ___。
Mary is adept at talking to people and making them feel comfortable around her.（Mary善於跟人溝通談話，讓他們覺得在她身旁很自在。）
