joint venture 指「合資」，也就是聯合經營。venture 指「帶有風險的企業投機活動」，joint 指「聯合的」。
joint venture 通常是為了攻進某個市場、擴大經營經費、或為了分散投資風險，而由兩個以上個人或團體共同創立商業行為，常見的合資行為可以是共享所有權（ownership）、經營權（management）、共享收益（returns）或風險（risks）等。

Ant Financial and Vanguard have formed a joint venture in Shanghai.
中國螞蟻金服與美國先鋒集團在上海合資。
There are many joint ventures between American and Chinese companies.
有很多美國和中國合資的公司。
