World’s oldest bridegroom : Indian man, 120, ties the knot with bride half his age/世界最老新郎:印度120歲老翁娶60歲婦女為妻

At the grand old age of 120, Hazi Abdul Noor has married for a second time and become the world’s oldest bridegroom.

Six years after his first wife died, he has tied the knot again with Samoi Bibi, 60, in the village of Satghori in North-East India.

Despite looking relatively fresh-faced for someone who has been a centenarian for 20 years, he presides over a family of 122 – including two sons, four daughters and a lot of grandchildren.

Five hundred guests attended the wedding in the sleepy village in the state of Assam.

Salima Khatun, his first wife, died in 2005 and he had asked his children to find him a wife who could look after him, according to the Times of India.

Mr Noor said: ‘My age in the voter list is 116 years. But actually I am 120 years old.’

His son, Hazi Azir Uddin, said: ‘Soon after my mother’s death, my father requested us to find him another wife who would look after him.

‘It was not an easy job to find a bride for 100-year-old. However, by the grace of God, we have found a new mother, though she’s half his age.

‘She was married once early in life. Her husband died and she has no children.’

After marrying Mr Noor, his new wife has now acquired several new stepsons and stepdaughters – many of whom are older than her.

She said: ‘I will try my best to take care of my husband.’

The current world record-holder is a 103-year-old American. (wrapup)
